Why therefore, our laws to an hereditary legislator, merely because he has taken the trouble to be born, and is the presumed son of his father? There are two sides from which reform of the House of Lords might come, the inside and the outside. Should we leave the reform to the inside, or to the Lords themselves, they will reform themselves as effectually as Satan would reprove sin.”
These words were written in 1885 and sadly are still applicable over a hundred and thirty years later. With the 5th of November fast approaching, lets all take a decision to make a change.
Make the decision that in 2085 the same words wont ring true with a people assessing their second legislative body.
Make the decision to get rid of the these people who have literally lorded it over us for far too long.
Make a decision that these cretinous, greedy, self serving, abusers have no place in our society, and certainly no place in governing the rest of us.
Let’s tell them we’re done with them and all their corruption.
Or we can carry on tinkering around the edges, change nothing in a meaningful way, blame a few ‘bad eggs’, and carry on, endure. These are quintessentially British ways to be, afterall.
